1979 Issues
These notes were issued by the Vietnamese-backed Communist regime of Heng Samrin which overthrew Pol Pots Khmer Rouge regime in 1979. They bear no signatures and depict rural Cambodian scenes.
Because there were no banknotes then in circulation and the economy had been severely disrupted, the government gave away the new notes to encourage their use.
