Beginning in 1931, all notes have a watermark of Diego Portales.
On the 5-, 10-, 50-, and 100-peso notes, the watermark also contains the denomination expressed in Roman numerals (V, X, L,and C, respectively). Later, unused stocks of paper were printed with
denominations that did not match the Roman numeral.
