General information: 2014 Issues
These notes were issued on 20 January 2014. The preceding issues will circulate in parallel until 30 September 2014, after which time they will no longer be legal tender, but can be exchanged indefinitely at IEOM offices. The themes for the new notes are flora and vegetation, fauna, sea fauna, and architecture. The symbols at lower left front are intaglio printed to allow the sight impaired to distinguish between denominations by touch. The 500- and 1,000-franc notes have a pearlescent stripe at right front whereas the 5,000- and 10,000-franc notes have a holographic stripe. The stripes on all denominations also have CFP embossed diagonally at center. Additionally, the notes are protected against counterfeiting with microprinting, security fibers, and fluorescent features.
