General information: 2007 Unauthorized MAP Issues
The following two notes are of suspect origins, although they appear to commemorate the Madagascar Action Plan (MAP), a government campaign to fight poverty and to improve the economy. The bank has denied any involvement in the production or issuance of these notes, which may have been authorized by the minister of finance or the president without the bank’s knowledge. The notes are identical in their security features to the 2006 - 2007 issues, but the serial number in the upper left front corner has been replaced with an overprint of MADAGASCAR ACTION PLAN 2007 - 2012. There is also an overprint of Madagascar naturellement (Madagascar, Naturally) on the watermark area on front, as well as a special MAP serial number prefix.
