On 15 February 1988, Nicaragua revalued its currency at a rate of 1,000:1, but the name of the córdoba did not change. Although these notes are dated 1985, they were issued in 1988. With these notes, Nicaragua abandoned the practice of printing series letters on its notes, although all of these notes have two-character serial number prefixes which begin with the letter F (except for replacement notes which begin with the letter Z, and specimens with AA prefxes). These notes were printed by the Staatsdruckerei für Sicherheitspapiere der Deutschen Demokratischen Republik (State Printing Office of the German Democratic Republic).
