General information: 1979 “Light Bank” Issues
Idi Amin fled Uganda after Kampala fell to Tanzanian forces on 11 April 1979. To expunge his memory, these notes are like the preceding issues, except that the portrait of Idi Amin on the front
has been replaced with an illustration of the Bank of Ugandas headquarters building in Kampala.
All but the 5-shilling note are available in two types with different engravings of the bank building at left front. The latter engraving is distinguished from the earlier by its darker printing as well as a curved border that clearly defines the right of the vignette.
