On 15 November 1993, Uzbekistan replaced the Soviet ruble at par with the som (also transliterated as sum, and written in Cyrillic as сўм on all notes), the Uzbek word for ruble, meaning “pure.”
These notes were printed by Harrison & Sons, United Kingdom.
