General information: 1982 - 1985 Issues
In the early 1980s, an entirely new family of machine-readable banknotes was introduced with improved security features. - Beginning in the 1980s, the bank no longer printed individual issuing decree dates on notes. Instead, the two series letters are split, flanking the six-digit serial number prefaced with a decree letter that advances alphabetically with each change in decree.
For example, a note numbered PA 780158 B is from series PB, decree A.
